Music has always been a love and passion for JL. His musical influences are Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, Beyonce, John Legend, and Erykah Badu. Born in Clark Air Force Base Angeles City, Philippines. Raised in Los Angeles, CA. JL studied and performed the arts all through childhood and adolences. He trained and taught at his mother's dance studio The Dance Connection in Los Angeles. Getting buzz as a rising star, JL caught the attention of the Late Great Gregory Hines and made a National T.V. Guest Appearance on CBS's "The Gregory Hines Show"(1998). Later followed appearances on Lifetime's "Strong Medicine"(2001) and the 64th Tony Awards(Fela!). JL has toured Europe including the U.K. and Asia with the critically acclaimed show "Magic of the Dance" as the Entertainer. He also toured the Broadway show "42nd Street" in Japan and North America in the role of "Andy Lee." JL's Broadway debut came in the fall of 2009 as an original cast member of the Tony Award Winning hit show Fela! He was also apart of history making Fela! the first Original Broadway show and cast to touch African soil in Lagos, Nigeria. In summer of 2012 JL decided to put his theater career on sabbatical to pursue music full time. Starting his production company Tap Soul Productions, the company has produced 3 showcases in New York City at the Producer's Club and 3 concerts in Hollywood, CA at the Stella Adler Theater and the Complex Hollywood. JL resides in New York City and continues to write and record music promising to always give his best 100%. The music journey has just begun and looks very promising. JL has an upcoming show December 16, 2013 in New York City at the Producers Club Theaters entitled "Tap Service"
