Tap Dance and Music is a love and passion for JL. His influences are Bill Robinson, Sammy Davis Jr., Gregory Hines, Jimmy Slyde, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, Beyonce, John Legend, and Erykah Badu. Born in Clark Air Force Base Angeles City, Philippines. Raised in Los Angeles, CA. JL studied and performed the arts all through childhood. He trained and taught at his mother's dance studio The Dance Connection in Los Angeles. Getting buzz as a rising star, JL caught the attention of the Late Great Gregory Hines and made a National T.V. Guest Appearance on CBS's "The Gregory Hines Show"(1998). Later as an actor, followed appearances on Lifetime's "Strong Medicine"(2001) and the 64th Tony Awards(Fela!). JL has toured Europe including the U.K. and Asia with the critically acclaimed show "Magic of the Dance" as the Entertainer. He also toured the Broadway show "42nd Street" in Japan and North America in the role of "Andy Lee." JL's Broadway debut came in the fall of 2009 as an original cast member of the Tony Award Winning hit show Fela! He was also apart of history making Fela! the first Original Broadway show and cast to touch African soil in Lagos, Nigeria. In summer of 2012 JL decided to put his theater career on sabbatical to pursue music full time. Starting his production company Tap Soul Productions, the company has produced 6 showcases in New York City at the Producer's Club Theater and 3 concerts in Los Angeles, CA at the Stella Adler Theater. JL resides in New York City and continues to teach tap, write music, produce shows, and record music promising to always give his 100% best. Tap Soul Productions premiered their off-Broadway show "Show Me the TAP Show Me the SOUL!" on May 25th at the Helen Mills Theater in honor of National Tap Dance Day!
